USACE has received a $25 million to conduct the recovery unwatering mission in South Louisiana following Hurricane Ida. Pumps have been deployed to Kraemer in LaFourche Parish and Lafitte in Jefferson Parish. In lower Plaquemines Parish, USACE will undertake controlled engineered cuts in the levees to promote drainage. Understanding that we remain in hurricane season, these sections can be closed in advance of a pending storm. USACE has the flexibility and capability under the existing unwatering mission to include additional areas should the need arise.
