U.S. Army Spc. Mark Perrenoud, from Redlands, Calif, checks the numerous spices available at a shopping area in Doha, Qatar, on Dec. 8. Souq Waqif, a newly renovated shopping and trading area, is well known for its dried spices and herbs of various colors and aromas. Perrenoud, otherwise serving in Iraq, was participating in the U.S. Central Command Rest and Recuperation Pass Program at Camp As Sayliyah, providing a brief respite for war fighters throughout southwest Asia.
