HALIFAX, Nova Scotia -- (Aug. 26, 2021) Crew members assigned to the USCGC Escanaba greets a Canadian marine pilot as the Escanaba pulls into port in Halifax, Nova Scotia. A maritime pilot, marine pilot, harbor pilot, port pilot, ship pilot, or simply pilot is a mariner who maneuvers ships through dangerous or congested waters, such as harbors or river mouths. The USCGC Escanaba (WMEC 907) is a 270-foot Famous-class medium endurance cutter with a crew of around 100 conducting many of the service's missions, emphasizing law enforcement. (U. S.
