PHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 24, 2021) Quartermaster Seaman John Lund, from Staten Island, N.Y., raises a signal flag while steaming in formation with the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth (R 08) and other ships from the Royal Navy, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Royal Netherlands Navy. America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, along with the 31st MEU, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
