LOPBURI, Thailand – A Green Beret with 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), and his Royal Thai Army counterpart salute a formation of troops during the Cobra Gold 21 opening ceremony held at Camp Erawan, Lopburi, Kingdom of Thailand, on Aug. 2, 2021. CG21 is the 40th iteration of the Cobra Gold series of exercises. Cobra Gold is an important element of the U.S. and participating nations’ regional military to military (mil-to-mil) engagement efforts to maintain readiness and increase the capability, capacity and interoperability of partnered nations while simultaneously reinforcing our commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
