NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO (Aug. 16, 2021) – Miranda Ray, the spouse of Cmdr. Kevin Ray, commanding officer of the Independence-variant littoral combat ship PCU Savannah (LCS 28), places his command-at-sea pin onto his uniform, marking him as the first commanding officer of Savannah, during a pier-side assumption of command ceremony on board Naval Base San Diego. The Littoral Combat Ship is a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed to operate in near-shore environments, winning against 21st-century coastal threats.
