CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti (August 13, 2021) U.S. Navy Hospitalman Lionel Dejesus, from Bronx, N.Y., assigned to Michaud Expeditionary Medical Facility, prepares COVID-19 vaccine supplies for a COVID-19 vaccine administration on base, August 13, 2021. Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti (CLDJ) serves as an expeditionary base for U.S. military forces providing support to ships, aircraft, and personnel that ensure security throughout Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia. CLDJ enables maritime and combat operations in the Horn of Africa while fostering positive U.S.-Africa relations. The base is also home to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, with an area of responsibility including Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, and Yemen.
