Newly promoted Gunnery Sgt. Apollo I. Thomas, chemical biological radiological nuclear defense chief, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, stands in formation after receiving his new rank, in the hangar bay of the USS Peleliu, Oct. 1. The 15th MEU is currently embarked as part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group, while they serve as the nation's rapid-response sea-based Marine Air Ground Task Force for Western Pacific Deployment 12-02. Thomas, 29, is from Leonard Town, Md.
