U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Adam Conkling, a team leader with 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, and Lance Cpl. Kiani Cooks, both with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct mechanical advantage control hold techniques during Oleoresin Capsicum spray training aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) in the Coral Sea, July 21, 2021. The training consisted of Marines practicing a series of drills to prepare for riot control and proper use of non-lethal weapon deployment. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
