A U.S. Marine with Battalion Landing Team 3/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), checks a simulated casualty’s airway during casualty care as part of a Combat Life Saver class aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) in the Coral Sea, July 20, 2021. Casualty care involves the use of tourniquets, H bandages, field dressing and triage techniques to address various types of wounds that a casualty may require treatment for. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
