Green Berets with 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and communication personnel from Special Operations Command North (SOCNORTH) establish communications Sept. 19, 2020, from their location in the Arctic to Colorado Springs. SOCNORTH deployed a tailored special operations task force to the region as part of an exercise to counter external threats to the Alaskan oil fields. A substantial success from the exercise was that the team was able to establish direct communications with their headquarters in Colorado Springs via high frequency radio; a distance of more than 2,600 miles.
