The Idaho Army National Guard’s Combined Arms Battalion, the Idaho Air National Guard’s 124th Air Support Operations Squadron and 190th Fighter Squadron joined forces in a large-scale joint training event on May 18 and 19, 2021 on the Orchard Combat Training Center.
Two mortar platoons from the HHC, 2-116th mortar section, Thunder 1 and Thunder 2, provided supporting fire from two M106 mortar carriers.
This was the first exercise of its kind with A-10 Thunderbolt fighters delivering 500 pound aerial ordinance in conjunction with supporting fire from Idaho Army National Guard ground units.
