Crews work to recontour excavated areas to match the surrounding topography and replace the organic layer at the Cape Prominence Formerly Used Defense Site. Before the contaminated soil was removed, the field team carefully set aside and preserved the vegetative mat. This approach enhanced site restoration and promoted natural revegetation. This project was managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District.
