U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Darius Banaji, deputy director for operations for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), presents an American flag to a member of the Trapp brother’s family during a funeral for the Trapp brothers at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, June 15, 2021. The Trapp brothers were assigned to the USS Oklahoma, which sustained fire from Japanese aircraft and multiple torpedo hits causing the ship to capsize and resulted in the deaths of more than 400 crew members on Dec. 7, 1941, at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor. The Trapp brothers were recently identified through DNA analysis by the DPAA forensic laboratory and laid to rest with full military honors. DPAA’s mission is to achieve the fullest possible accounting for missing and unaccounted-for U.S. personnel to their families and our nation. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Rusty Frank)
