U.S. Army, Pacific Deputy Commander, Army National Guard, Maj. Gen. Joseph Chaves spoke to a crowd of over 160 during the opening ceremony of the third annual Pacific Resilience Disaster Response Exercise & Exchange in Dhaka, Bangladesh Sep. 17. Chaves emphasized the importance of civilian and military cooperation and interoperability between the U.S. and Bangladesh. The goal of the 4-day exercise is to bring together both civilian and military professionals and improve interoperability and response planning in the wake of a potential catastrophic earthquake event.
