Jen Whitestone, an anthropometric technical expert, conducts body stature measurements using a FaroArm on Airman 1st Class Jake Thelen, a communications system technician with the 129th Combat Training Squadron, 116th Air Control Wing, Georgia Air National Guard, in the flight deck of an E-8C Joint STARS at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, June 4, 2021. A team from the Head Quarters Air Force Anthropometric Study spent several days with Team JSTARS evaluating Career Enlisted Aviators (CEA) to find the minimum and maximum body size proportions required by CEA’s to perform their job correctly. The study is a part of an inclusion and diversity effort meant to open the CEA career field to more females and minorities who might otherwise be excluded due to outdated body stature standards.
