Recent high school graduate, Mekeila Santiago, talks to Becky Cedarholm, honorary president of the Cherry Point Spouses Club, about her academic plans after receiving a scholarship during the scholarship and assistance award program at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, June 3, 2021. Santiago plans to go to Brinson Honors College at Western Carolina University to major in Criminal Justice. For more than four decades the Whistle Stop Thrift Shop on MCAS Cherry Point has enabled the Cherry Point Spouses Club to donate a significant monetary value for scholarships and assistance awards to the MCAS Cherry Point community.
