Paratroopers from across the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, “Spartan Brigade,” conducted an airborne operation onto Malemute Drop Zone, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, May 25, 2021, to commemorate the 77 Paratroopers that lost their lives during combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Marines air crews from the Marine Aerial Refueler Transportation Squadron 152 out of Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, delivered the paratroopers to the drop zone in KC-130J aircraft. The Spartan Brigade is the only airborne infantry brigade combat team in the Arctic and Pacific theaters, providing the combatant commander with the unique capability to project an expeditionary force by air.
