Maj. Tyler Brewer, (red hat) trains for his aircraft commander upgrade with Lt. Col. Jeremy Burton, MAFFS instructor pilot, (middle), Maj. Kevin Greenwood, MAFFS instructor navigator, (right rear), and TSgt. Ben Gonzales, flight engineer, (right front). The crew worked to attain certifications and upgrades as part of the annual aerial Wildland Firefighting (WFF) training and certification with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service, using the USDA Forest Service-provided Modular Aerial Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) fixed aboard C-130 Hercules aircraft. Along with Colorado Springs' 302nd Airlift Wing, the units are conducting training drops with potable water over national forests and Bureau of Land Management lands, simulating disbursement of fire retardant.
