Army Staff Sgt. Cameron Swanson, assigned to 3rd Squadron, Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade, speaks on his time at the Community Vaccination Center at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee, May 7, 2021. Swanson is tasked with vaccinating some of the many clients that come through the site. “People in Milwaukee seem very nice and friendly and very welcoming to us here, especially for it being a non-military town,” he says. Swanson has been deployed to Afghanistan, South America and has spent some time in Europe. He is pleased to be on a mission assisting the citizenry of his home country. “As an active duty guy we don't get to spend very much time doing anything stateside with our people,” he says. “Having the opportunity to deploy somewhere stateside and get to work is pretty nice.” Staff Sgt. Swanson is a combat medical specialist and is a native of Central Point, Oregon. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
