Staff Sgt. Heather West of Mobile, Ala., assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 402nd Field Artillery Brigade, here, received the German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge Sept. 7. German air force air defense center commander Lt. Col. Nils Wetzel and Command Sgt. Maj. Bernhardt Koelzer presented the badge at the German Club Soldatenstube. The German air force personnel stationed here have sponsored the competition for American troops eight times in the past three years. The GAFMPB is awarded in gold, silver or bronze. The coveted badge may be worn on the U.S. Army service uniform.
