Spc. Emril Getscher, from Harford, Md., a cook attached to the 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, looks over two turkeys, Rocky and Audie Murphy, during a Thanksgiving Day dinner at Combat Outpost Cleary, Iraq. We thought the turkeys would be a nice touch, Getscher said. COP Cleary was the first stop of five during a Thanksgiving Day "Turkey Run" made by 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team leaders. Col. Wayne W. Grigsby, Jr., from Prince George's County, Md., brigade commander, and 3rd HBCT Command Sgt. Maj. James M. Pearson, from Philadelphia, visited five combat outposts and patrol bases within the brigade's area of operation. During each visit, Chief Warrant Officer Ellen Magras, from the Virgin Islands, food service officer for the 3rd HBCT, and Sgt. 1st Class Darrell Lewis, from Pensacola, Fla., a food service specialist in the brigade, checked and graded each Thanksgiving Day meal on preparation, taste, service, and decorations.
