Representatives from New Jersey Emergency Management, New Jersey Department of Health, Federal Emergency Management Agency, University Hospital EMTs, United States Public Health Service, AmeriCorps volunteers, NJIT police and federal security, and U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 335th Air Expeditionary Group, take a moment to celebrate the first major milestone—surpassing 50,000 vaccinations delivered on April 8, 2021. The staff from these organizations have joined together working from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily since March 31 to deliver the COVID-19 vaccine to community members at the state-led, federally supported New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. U.S. service members from across the country are deployed in support of the Department of Defense federal vaccine response operations. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible DoD support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
