Hideyuki Shimabukuro, the Ie Village office mayor, expresses gratitude towards the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) and Marine Corps Installations Pacific personnel on Ie Shima Training Facility (ISTF), Okinawa, Japan, April 6, 2021. Over the last five years, unexploded ordnance found on Iejima has been stored awaiting destruction. At the request of the Ie Village office mayor, JGSDF and Marine Corps Base Butler explosive ordnance disposal technicians conducted combined operations to destroy these hazards.
