Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) 2nd Lt. Yuta Sakamoto, an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician with 101st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, inspects fragmentation pulled out of the shot hole on Ie Shima Training Facility (ISTF), Okinawa, Japan, April 6, 2021. Over the last five years, unexploded ordnance found on Iejima has been stored awaiting destruction. At the request of the Ie Village office mayor, JGSDF and Marine Corps Base Butler EOD technicians conducted combined operations to destroy these hazards.
