Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Sgt. Takashi Kawahara, an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician with 101st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, conducts the final countdown to disposal on Ie Shima Training Facility (ISTF), Okinawa, Japan, April 6, 2021. Over the last five years, unexploded ordnance found on Iejima has been stored awaiting destruction. At the request of the Ie Village office mayor, JGSDF and Marine Corps Base Butler EOD disposal technicians conducted combined operations to destroy these hazards.
