U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Can Liu, from Queens, New York, and a general purpose Airman assigned to the 335th Expeditionary Medical Operations Squadron, takes a short break at the state-led, federally-supported Medgar Evers College Community Vaccination Center in Brooklyn, New York, on March 24, 2021. Liu, who is deployed from the 20th Civil Engineer Squadron out of Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, was born in Fushun, China, is fluent in Mandarin, and moved to the U.S. with her family when she was 9 years old. Liu is able to translate for Chinese community members who have questions while receiving their COVID-19 vaccination. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible DoD support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
