Lance Cpl. Nathan Pontious, rifleman, Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, Regimental Combat Team 6, reads his Pashtu to English dictionary, Aug. 24, 2012. Pontious graduated third out of more than 200 students while learning Pashtu. He uses his ability to bridge the language barrier to talk to locals while on patrol in Trek Nawa, an area between the Nawa and Marjah districts.
