200109-N-JB957-020 SPOKANE, Wash. (Dec. 10, 2019) - An old fiber optic saddle is displayed at a Department of Defense symposium. The saddle's fragility lead to the invention of the universal fiber optic clamp. Inventions, like the fiber optic clamp are part of the Navy Technology Transfer program, a means by which Navy inventions are shared within their industry arenas, so private companies can utilize their developments, apply them in support of Navy programs, and possibly commercialize them to grow their businesses.
