U.S. Army 1st Lt. Michelle Lipp, an aviation officer assigned to 4th Battalion, 3rd General Support Aviation Battalion, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, on Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York in 2018. Lipp, a Miami native, has a master’s of divinity degree from Liberty University. “I joined the Army because I enjoy the freedoms of the United States and I’m grateful for all this country has enabled my family and I to do. By taking an oath to protect the U.S. Constitution, I swore to preserve the liberties that come with being a United States citizen. I stand out as a female in the Army and even more as a minority. I take precaution with how I carry myself, especially as an Officer. I know I represent a long line of women who have paved the way for Soldiers like me to lead others.
