Airmen of the 203rd Intelligence Squadron participated in a virtual 218 mile run. The event, hosted by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization, honored the 30th anniversary of Operation Desert Storm, also known as the liberation of Kuwait.
Runners completed 218 miles; the approximate distance the Marines covered upon arrival between the main airport in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia to the middle of Kuwait City. The journey was made from Jan. 17 to Feb. 28, the date the U.S. and coalition troops forced the Iraqi army out of Kuwait.
The team, composed by 203 IS Airmen, completed the 218 miles within the same six week period as forces travelled 30 years earlier in the Middle East. Each participant logged their individual progress and earned a distinctive medal for their accomplishment.
