U.S. Army 1st Lt. Jowayne Meadows, a human resource officer, assigned to the 369th Special Troops Battalion, 369th Sustainment Brigade, 53rd Troop Command, conducts the swearing in of 10 New York Army National Guard Soldiers who reenlist and are honored in a ceremony showing appreciation for their continued dedication to service to the state of New York, the nation, and the New York Army National Guard, at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, New York, February 24, 2021.
All Soldiers in attendance are deployed in support of state efforts to provide mass COVID-19 vaccinations administered by the New York State Department of Health, at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, New York.
The National Guard has hundreds of Guardsmen and women deployed to the vaccination site to support staffing for the site. The New York State Department of Health conducts vaccination efforts for essential workers and members of the community who are eligible beginning January 13, 2021. Eligible members of the public can register for a vaccine appointment through the Department of Health website: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-vaccines.page.
