Fort Campbell hosted a Spiritual Readiness Conference February 22-25 at Liberty Chapel. The conference equipped chaplains and Religious Affairs Specialists with the resources needed to meet the spiritual needs of the Soldiers in their units. Keynote speakers included Chief of Chaplains Maj. Gen. Thomas Solhjem and Regimental Sergeant Major Ralph Martinez, who both made themselves available to answer Soldiers’ questions and hear their feedback on how the Army can better put People First.
“We know what physical readiness is, we know what medical readiness is, but it’s the spiritual readiness that’s lacking,” said Maj. Gen. Solhjem. “We’re here to train our chaplains and Religious Affairs Specialists on how to care for the soul of the Army.”
The conference featured several seminars led by chaplains from posts throughout the country. The seminars emphasized the importance of spiritual readiness as well as hands on exercises to put the training into practice.
“Caring for the Soldiers is our main priority, and we want to get after the best way of doing that,” said Master Sgt. Michael King, Master of Religious Affairs NCO at Fort Campbell.
