Lt. Col. Robert Carruthers and Command Sgt. Maj. Darryl J. Cheatham of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st of the 118th Combined Arms Battalion talk with Ukrainian army Lt. Col. Valerie Parada before a formation of soldiers from both platoons. Carruthers, Cheatham worked with Parada to help the Ukrainian soldiers celebrate their country's 21st anniversary of independence from the U.S.S.R. Aug. 24 in Hohenfels, Germany. The soldiers have been working together for the last week and will both be supporting the KFOR mission in Kosovo in the next year.
