Vice Adm. Tim Szymanski, Deputy Commander, United States Special Operations Command, receives an initial baseline as part of the Special Operations Assessment Baselining and Readiness Evaluation System pilot program at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Feb. 9, 2021. MARSOC is SOCOM’s lead component on testing the SABRES pilot program. SABRES is designed to test the feasibility of administering various assessment tools related to neurocognitive function and behavioral health for each service member, as well as gather opinions on each assessment tool. If a SABRES assessment detects an opportunity for functional improvement, a treatment and/or training protocol will be offered. This aims to improve cognitive performance, sleep quality and quantity, and reduce stress and anxiety. This program seeks to efficiently and comprehensively enhance service members’ spiritual, social, psychological and physical well-being to further develop strong ethical character and core values.
