U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. James Wasitowski, a crew chief with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), enjoys the view before preparing the aircraft for landing in the Central Training Area, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 21, 2021. The MEU’s forward command element was deployed from amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) along with the humanitarian assistance survey team to rehearse the coordination of foreign humanitarian assistance in the event of a natural disaster. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
