Lt. Col. Michael Mroszczak, executive officer for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and commander of the MEU’s forward command element (FCE), helps secure fellow FCE member Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Skylar Hull against the downwash from an MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced) as it lands on amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) prior to the departure of the forward command element (FCE) from LHA 6 in the Philippine Sea, Jan. 21, 2021. The FCE was deployed along with the humanitarian assistance survey team to rehearse the coordination of foreign humanitarian assistance in the event of a natural disaster. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
