Staff Sgt. Derric Lowery of Vancouver, Wash., a combat engineer with the 204th Engineer Company, gives a briefing to the soldiers that have been placed into his newly-formed platoon here. The Canadian and American soldiers were combined into platoons, where they trained and lived together for the duration of the exercise. Kootenay Castor 2012 was a two week combined training exercise between Washington Army National Guard and Royal Canadian Army combat engineers to enhance the soldier's skills and tactics.
