U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Joshua Hicks, a team leader with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and a native of Greenville, South Carolina, gives orders to one of his Marines during a helicopter raid on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 28, 2021. The exercise prepared the Marines of India Company for future missions as the 31st MEU’s helicopter raid force. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
