U.S. Marine 2nd Lt. David Craven, a platoon commander with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and a native of Speculator, New York, sits in an MV-22b Osprey tiltrotor aircraft assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (Reinforced) 262, 31st MEU, during a helicopter raid over Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 28, 2021. The exercise prepared the Marines of India Company for future missions as the 31st MEU’s helicopter raid force. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
