KEKAHA, Hawaii (Jan. 12, 2020) Senior Chief Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician Jon Erik Kristoffersen, assigned to Detachment EOD Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1, detonates an explosive device on the beach for disposal of a World War II-era unexploded ordinance projectile found at Pacific Missile Range Facility, Barking Sands, Hawaii, Jan. 12, 2021. Detachment EOD Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1 is a component of MDSU-1, which provides combat ready, expeditionary, rapidly-deployable and mobile diving and salvage companies to conduct harbor clearance, salvage, underwater search and recovery, and underwater emergency repairs in any environment.
