YOKOSUKA, Japan (Jan. 06, 2021) – U.S. 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) Executive Officer, Cmdr. Steven Gonzales, from Miami, Florida, left, and Command Master Chief Adrian Watkins, from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, wait to get their COVID-19 vaccination at U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka. Medical personnel and strategic forces were the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine over the past week at Naval Hospital Yokosuka. This is part of the DoD’s phased vaccine rollout for voluntary inoculations across the force, including the 7th Fleet’s Forward Deployed Naval Forces. Blue Ridge is the oldest operational ship in the Navy and, as 7th Fleet command ship, actively works to foster relationships with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
