200113-N-ME396-1040 GROTON, Conn. (Jan. 13, 2020) Religious Program Specialist 3rd Class Sarah Herrera shows an undated photo of when the Chapel on the Thames onboard Naval Submarine Base (SUBASE) New London received the cross atop its steeple. The chapel was built during World War II following a standard design for military chapels, but a lack of timber due to the war effort led to it being built with bricks and mortar.
