U.S. Marines with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 externally lift equipment from Marine Unmanned Aerial Squadron 3 on Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Dec. 10, 2020. During the training, CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters externally lifted the equipment needed to establish an unmanned aerial system platform at an expeditionary advanced operating base, to include Humvees, a generator trailer, recovery system, and a launcher system. The training demonstrated the capability of HMH-463’s heavy lift helicopters in support of VMU-3’s hub-and-spoke concept, and the composite assault support capabilities of Marine Aircraft Group 24.
