Staff. Sgt. Julius Jay Paredes Fajotina, a Firefighter with the Hawaii Army National Guard’s 297th Engineer Fire Fighting Team, salutes a wreath on the shores of Bellows Air Force Station in Waimanalo, Hawaii, Nov. 10, 2020. The somber event was part of a month-long lead up into the 79th Anniversary of the attacks on the Island of Oahu and Pearl Harbor. While the world has grown to understand the significance of the attacks on Pearl Harbor, the wreath laying took on a special meaning for Fajotina and his family. “I had to hold back tears as I couldn’t stop thinking about my Grandfather, Alejo Fajotina, who was a POW during WW2,” said Fajotina.
