In honor of National American Heritage month, the NMCCL Diversity Committee hosted an event on November 19, to mark the national observance.
The event highlighted contributions of Native Americans to the Department of Defense. This year’s theme is ‘Honoring the Past, Securing the Future,’ focusing on the widespread and immeasurable impact American Natives had on WWI and WWII.
NMCCL Commander and Director Captain Reg Ewing addressed members of the Diversity Committee, thanking them and the staff of NMCCL for their continuous efforts in promoting a “command based on inclusion and equality.”
The event included educational displays and handcrafted Native American artifacts donated for the event by Robert Ryden, an NMCCL employee with Material Management. Mr. Ryden has a personal interest in native artifacts; he has been donating items for the event for the last six years.
