YOKOSUKA, Japan (Nov. 05, 2020) - Culinary Specialist 3rd Class Karlo Mandani, from Anchorage, Alaska, blocks strikes from Fireman Controlman 3rd Class Chris Herzog, from Detroit, after being sprayed with oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray during Security Reaction Force Basic (SRF-B) review training on the flight deck of U.S. 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19). During SRF-B training, Sailors learn the weapons handling, self-defense and hand-to-hand combat skills necessary to deal with hostile threats and maintain mission security. Blue Ridge is the oldest operational ship in the Navy and, as 7th Fleet command ship, actively works to foster relationships with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
