Michigan Air National Guard leaders brief Secretary Barbara M. Barrett, the 25th Secretary of the Air
Force, on the lethality of the main weapon system used on an A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft — a
30mm Gatling-style gun — during her visit to Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., Nov. 6, 2020.
Briefing the Secretary are Brig. Gen. Rolf Mammen, commander of the 127th Wing; Brig. Get. Bryan
Teff, Michigan Assistant Adjutant General for Air; Major Shannon Vickers and Major Brett DeVries,
both A-10 pilots with the 107th Fighter Squadron. The Secretary visited Selfridge to award DeVries
the Distinguished Flying Cross for superior aerial achievement for successfully landing a damaged
A-10 during a 2017 training flight over northern Michigan. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Tech.
