Old to New: Joint Munitions Command Commander Col. Gavin Gardner is briefed on how Crane Army Ammunition Activity is modernizing its original WWII-era plating facility, seen here, during a visit on October 15, 2020. A modernized plating facility, planned to be operational in February, will utilize advanced technology to more accurately measure how much water is needed to support the chemical reaction that bonds a corrosive resistant coating to metal components in munitions. CAAA is one of 17 installations of the JMC and one of 23 organic industrial bases under the U.S. Army Materiel Command, which include arsenals, depots, activities and ammunition plants.
