U.S. Coast Guardsmen transit to and from the seagoing buoy tender USCGC Sycamore (WLB 209) prepare for a spilled oil recovery system exercise during Arctic Edge 2012 near Barrow, Alaska, Aug. 1, 2012. The SORS equipment is a vital asset to the Coast Guard's Marine Environmental Protection mission and includes booms to sweep oil into a skimmer. Arctic Edge is a U.S. Northern Command, U.S. Coast Guard, state, local and tribal exercise designed to test the SORS in the waters surrounding the Arctic regions of Alaska.
